Skill Empower (Pty) Ltd T/A Empowerskill is a Level 2 BBEEE training company specifically focusing on empowering inexperienced tax and accounting professional through skill development.

The harsh reality is that South Africa currently has an overall unemployment rate of more than 30%, an extended unemployment rate of more than 43%, and a youth unemployment rate of more than 55%.

As a company we are passionate about making a difference. Through critical partnerships with tax professionals and accountants in practice, we have been able to develop interventions to address the lack of workplace readiness skills amongst recent graduates.

The solution has a strong link to the legislative and policy level drive of government to upskill the population with a particular focus on the youth. The high unemployment rate amongst youth, coupled with the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic whereby more and more people work from home, needs an innovative and fresh solution to work experience as part of an occupational certificate and/or upskilling of a qualification and/or Professional Body membership.

Simply put – learners aren’t getting the one-on-one on-the-job training they were able to get in the pre-Covid world of work. Interaction with seniors has become much more structured and formal and less interactive and incidental. This mode of interaction is especially challenging for the Generation Z’s.

Empowerskill’s efforts are supported by three of the most prominent professional bodies in tax and accounting in South Africa.

Through the successful projects that were run in the past with B.Com. (Hons) students that hailed from University of Johannesburg, University of Pretoria and University of Cape Town we have proven the efficacy of our unique solution to address the skills gap between theory and the world of work.

Through funding generously provided by FASSET as well as internally funded bursaries that were awarded to deserving learners, we have increased students’ work readiness skills, assisted with CV writing , provided learners with practical real-life simulated experiences and supported students through our extensive wellness program.
